I went down from August 27th to September 2nd to make sure I could participate in at least one activity for Southern Decadence. It didn’t happen. Southern Decadence is like gay pride times 10. It is a giant celebration of gayness held in New Orleans at the same time every year. Unfortunately, I just didn’t get around to doing anything related to it. The only thing I did was notice how gay the city became. There were rainbow flags in a lot of places, although they were mostly in the French Quarter. Mainstream restaurants had them in their windows. Hotels and shops hung them from balconies. I saw some flags on streetlights. Harrah’s Casino even flew a rainbow flag in its arrangement of flags in the front.
